Country star Janet Devlin releases her new single, Back To My Senses. The song recounts how a depressive episode caused her to terminate the relationship she was in. Reflecting on the experience, Devlin shared, “On paper this looks like one of the cringiest things I’ve ever done!”
After the episode subsided and her feelings returned, the singer recognized the mistake she had made. She expressed her remorse through this song and heartfelt lyrics, saying, “When my feelings came flooding back to me and I realised what I’d done—I wrote this song and sent it to them along with a groveling text message. And guess what—it worked”.
Back To My Senses has traditional instrumentals that reveal true musicianship. I appreciate how the guitars and drums gain momentum as the song progresses, for example. The vocals are drenched in emotion, making them super believable.
