Minalie, a 20-year-old Norwegian singer-songwriter from Lillehammer, recently released her latest single, When It Rains. It takes inspiration from the famous musical The Phantom of the Opera and explores the fear of showing your darker side to someone you love. There’s always that worry – what if they reject the real me once they see my flaws and insecurities? In the song, rain represents the force that strips away our perfect facades, exposing the messy truth beneath.
When It Rains features mysterious cinematic instrumentals that make you feel as if you’re in a movie. The vocals here are incredibly heartfelt, especially when they’re stacked together during the bridge, just before the powerful chorus kicks in.
