Written in a single day following a nanny work trip to Palm Springs, Daphne Jane’s House in the Hills was born out of a rare, enchanted evening. Given the night off by her nanny family, Daphne and her girlfriend found themselves wandering a grand, deserted neighborhood in 75-degree perfection, dancing to old Lana Del Rey songs and soaking in the surreal beauty of the San Jacinto Mountains. That dreamy stillness, haunted by both beauty and absence, became the heartbeat of the song.

House in the Hills embodies Daphne’s signature indie pop sensibility, featuring warm strings, floating chords, and drums that feel expansive. There’s a touch of melancholy wrapped in the magic, echoing influences like Clairo, Lorde, and of course, Lana. Yet the voice remains uniquely Daphne’s.

Daphne has given us more than a song, she’s gifted us a portal, a late-night memory tucked in the warm breeze of Palm Springs, where beauty, love, and questions about what really matters all dance beneath mountain skies.
