Austrian indie-folk darling Filiah is comparable to acts like Lizzy McAlpine, Maggie Rogers, and Orla Gartland. Her new single Sad Girl With A Punchline is exactly what it sounds like: a moody anthem for the emotionally overqualified and socially underbooked.
Leaning into her self-proclaimed outsider status, Filiah embraces her sadness by holding a (invisible) sign that reads, “Laugh if you want, I already did.” The lyrics talk about self-criticism, acceptance, and the tiny victories of turning pain into punchlines.
