Christine by rising star Toy Shaw is a bold, genre-smashing electro-country revenge ballad unlike anything you’ve heard before. Co-produced with Lupa J, it tells the twisted tale of a diner waitress who, after being harassed and starved by her boss, kills and eats him, urged on by her own hunger and fury. Mixing banjo, violin, and glitchy electronics, it’s Miranda Lambert meets queer punk chaos.
The self-edited music video, directed by Claire Giuffre and Georgia Brogan, stars Toy as both herself playing in her band with Lupa J, and as the character Christine as she kills her predatory manager (James Lemon), drags him across Melbourne and finally, eats him.
Dark, camp, and fiercely feminist, Christine is a blood-soaked anthem for the girls, the gays, and the working class. Check it out below!
