The music of Piper Leone has a gentle clarity, turning the tangled threads of youth into universal lyrics. She recently shared her new single, If I’d Have Known Better. I love its its laidback groove, dreamy pedal steel, and subtle acoustic guitar accents, which make the sound steadily grow. The vocals are beautiful, similar to those of Sheryl Crow and Kacey Musgraves.
Leone wrote If I’d Have Known Better three years ago, reflecting on the bittersweet lessons learned from her first serious relationship. The lyrics have a serious tone and are therefore interesting to listen to.
