B.Miles revisits the emotional core of her debut release Nine Matches and break-out single Salt to confront the ways our past never really dies. +1 sees the singer pleading in desperation with a temporary lover. Its lyrics are very thoughtful, at least to me. You can feel them crawling into your soul.
I love the production of +1. Even though it doesn’t reach cinematic levels, it keeps you on the edge of your seat. The vocals are stable, maintaining a high level of quality.
The song arrives with B.Miles’ just-released album, Time Doesn’t Heal. She explains:
”It’s been ten years since I released my first EP, Twenty Fifteen. In the years since, I’ve chased songs—but I’ve also noticed a theme, one that’s burned itself into too many lyrics. Most of what I’ve written over the last decade feels like smoke leading me back to the same flame.
The songs I’ve written since seem to fold into that EP, like they were always part of the same story. Which is why, ten years later, that EP—and a handful of songs I’ve carried with me—have become something larger. Something that’s been hiding in plain sight all along. Together, these songs form an album that tells the story I’ve been circling for a decade.”
