Lene is a jazz-trained pianist and singer with a pop songwriter’s heart. She recently released her new single, Heaven (even if it’s fake). It comes from what she was taught as a girl: to be grateful, to remain silent, and to accept whatever you are given, no matter how painful it may be. Then, eventually, she chose for herself, deciding to build her own heaven, no matter how imperfect it may be.
I love the build-up of this song’s production, which starts with just electric piano, soft strings, and guitar, before synths and a four-on-the-floor kick come in. The vocals are wonderful, having much personality to them.
