Singer-songwriter Daphne Parker Powell releases her new single, Speak No Evil. At the heart of it is a question that Anaïs Nin might have recognized. Do we remember things as they were, or as we were? Powell translates this uncertainty into something searching and honest, tracing the thread from personal experience all the way back, before us, before our parents, and forward into the children we’re trying to raise differently.
I like the arrangement across the board. Everything sounds very organic, which makes the music feel sincere. The vocals are wonderful, radiating true light.
With Speak No Evil, Powell refuses to be a spectator. She tells her story how she wants it. Check out the song below!
