Some connections aren’t meant to last beyond the season that created them. A tour ends, a fling fades, and what you’re left with is just the memory of closeness. In Light in the Day, Abbey Blackwell meditates on distance and nearness.
There’s brilliant production here. Spare guitar picking gently entices, then sweeping lap steel counter melodies and a swelling keyboard pad wrap around everything, setting up a warm, enveloping sound that finally tumbles into the chorus.
Blackwell understands that not every goodbye needs to hurt. She conveys this beautifully here. Check out Light in the Day below!
