Let’s be real, January is a scam. It’s not the longest month of every year, but it sure feels like it stretches on forever. The holidays are over, the decorations are down, it’s cold and dark, and you’re supposed to suddenly have your life together because it’s a “new year.” Alanna Matty knows this is all nonsense, and January is her way of acknowledging that this month just hits different.
I love the production of this song. It begins with an acoustic rubber bridge guitar before swelling up and becoming more cinematic. The vocal harmonies are wonderful, as they have a lot of warmth, which makes them special.
