Punk has always had something to say. L.A. Sagne just says it better than most.
Rain On My Skin announces itself immediately, with a drum fill like canon fire, a bass guitar with the temperament of a chainsaw, and a groove that’s simultaneously sluggish and fierce. From the first few seconds it’s clear this one means business.
And then the chorus arrives and blows the roof off. Slack guitar chords, sleazy vocal lines, a raw tempo that dares you to be still.
The lyrics navigate through personal despair and the helplessness of not knowing how to save the world. Somehow they come out the other side feeling uplifting. That’s the trick L.A. Sagne pull off here, and it’s not a small one.
Rain On My Skin ends with the some good advice. Go be fucking nice to someone.
