Finding something real shouldn’t feel revolutionary. And yet, when you’ve spent enough time in the wrong things, it sort of does.
Real Deal is Malaika’s new single, and it signifies stepping out of uncertainty and into something real. Vibrant, assured, and emotionally clear in a way that only comes from knowing your own worth, it’s indie pop that feels genuinely good to listen to without sacrificing any substance.
Co-produced with JMAC and featuring drums from Freddy Sheed, whose credits run through Lewis Capaldi, The 1975 and Japanese House, the production comes across as polished.
Following the acclaimed Pretty Pretty Thing, Malaika is shaping up to be one of the more exciting names on the London indie scene right now. The debut EP arrives in May, and if these singles are anything to go by, it’s going to be worth the wait.
