Rising British singer-songwriter Zoe Konez is someone who never stops creating. With her new album, Everything’s Fine, which she self-produced, she doesn’t hold back on anything.
The project is anchored in self-reflection, born from Konez realizing that she no longer aligned with who she wanted to be. As she documents the process of rebuilding, she celebrates complexity and abstains from looking for easy answers. It’s a path that may seem difficult at first, but one that ultimately becomes empowering when you learn to surrender to it.
The fingerstyle acoustic guitar forms the basis of the album’s sonic palette, rounded out by layered harmonies, subtle synthesizer sounds, and tactically-positioned ambient noise. The production style remains organic, making it easy to connect with.
The overall quality of all tracks is high, but a few particularly impress. Nudge, for example, which talks about the fatigue that comes from constantly trying to improve yourself, depicting feelings of frustration and self-doubt with sincerity. Yeah I Know is also a brilliant tune, even offering one of the album’s most comforting moments. Through gentle melodies and tender writing, Konez softens anxiety.
Everything’s Fine succeeds because it welcomes vulnerability without compromising hope. Konez aims to make people believe again, despite possible circumstances, and isn’t focused on negative vibes. There aren’t any of those here. This album is meant to provide some perspective. You’ll finally feel understood. Check out Everything’s Fine below!
