Adelaide-based artist My Chérie is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. She recently released her new single, 5 years, which she wrote after the end of a long-term queer relationship. The song focuses on the small details of a shared life, while also addressing grief, change, and the uncertainty of a future that no longer looks the same as before.
The production has a warm indie folk-rock sound, with an open and rhythmic arrangement. Acoustic elements sit alongside fuller instrumentation, giving the song its intimate, emotionally rich character.
