Talented indie-rock group Winyah shares Before You Wake, from their new album Right Here, Right Now. It talks about the habit of running away from the person you actually want to stay close to. The lyrics bounce between missing someone, calling them up, making excuses, and then disappearing again, as if distance might somehow make everything easier.
The sound suits the lyrics’ restlessness really well. I’m especially into the combination of guitars, bass, drums, percussion, and piano, which makes the arrangement feel warm but never too comfortable. Thomas Rowland’s vocals add plenty of soul to the song as well.
