Jenny Kern, a Canadian born Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter, makes music that reaches your soul. One of the most vulnerable songs she has written is Alone, featured on her debut EP, I Never Thought That You Were Listening. It contains strong emotional elements. Stunning instrumentation and crystal-clear vocals accompany the lyrics.
About the track, Jenny says: ”It’s a song I wrote when I was in the deepest spiral of being alone. I felt like no one was there, no one was listening. With everything going on in the world over the last two years, Alone feels like a ritual. It came from a place of hopelessness and it’s probably one of the most honest songs I’ve written. It’s about self-discovery and searching for meaning in a dark and lonely time.”
Particularly striking is the second half of the production because of the classical sounds that weave their way in and the harmonies that blend into the background. Check out the audio below!
