It’s natural to look back on previous relationships and wonder what went wrong. Sometimes the person we’re meant to be with comes into our lives for just a brief moment, and then they’re gone. It’s sad, but it’s also what makes us human. We long for what could have been, and we imagine all of the possibilities. We create these perfect memories in our minds, and we feel bad about not being able to realize them.
Sierra Fotouhi’s new single Altadena describes the experience of going through a nonexistent breakup as an adolescent. Either way, the feeling is real. The lyrics are written with exquisite precision and poignancy. The song makes you feel like you’re reliving a heartbreak from the past.
