LA-native artist Ali Angel incorporates influences from the 1970s into her music. Stone Cold makes use of some interesting instrumentation, showing off a great deal of originality. Hooky guitar lines, dreamy synths, and driving drums and bass define the sound. Angel commands attention with her crystal clear singing.
The song is about Angel’s struggle with coming into her sexuality and embracing her queerness, and the struggle that follow. While it seems sometimes that coming out of the closet seems the hardest hurdle, re-discovering your queerness, finding how you fit into it and how it changes your life, and learning to let it go again after keeping it stone cold for so long, is another battle that can be frightening and overwhelming.
Stone Cold tackles such an important topic, and above all offers hope. To put it another way, it’s food for the soul. Check it out below!
