Chris Jobe’s new single Sofa Song explores heartbreak and healing after a long-term relationship ends. As he puts it, “Some people burn love letters from their ex- I burned our sofa. Turns out, getting over someone by getting under someone else is not the way to heal.”
After splitting from his partner of five years, Jobe’s friend and guitarist Jordan Greenwald came over to make music with him. The two sat down and began casually playing together. It didn’t take long for Jobe’s heartache to manifest itself in the form of lyrics and a melody. Greenwald fleshed out the guitar parts, and Sofa Song became concrete.
Sofa Song displays an anthemic quality. It’s fun to dance on, and it empowers you. It’s also got some really cool sections throughout, such as the bridge, where there are a lot of little surprises. You’ve to hear it for yourself.
