Frances Whitney recently released the lyric video for her single You Left Me For Jesus. The song is all about the heartbreak and confusion when your partner suddenly breaks up with you to focus on their faith. Whitney really taps into those unfiltered feelings of being blindsided. It raises a lot of tough questions since you can’t fully relate to where they’re coming from.
In the video, Frances sits alone in what seems to be an abandoned skatepark. Her powerful yet vulnerable vocals are accompanied by acoustic instrumentation. Despite addressing an incredibly painful subject matter, her performance is surprisingly hopeful.
It takes real artistry to lay yourself that bare through music. Whitney isn’t holding anything back with this one. Even if you’ve never experienced what she’s singing about, I guarantee you’ll find yourself moved by it.
