Some albums ask to be surrendered more than they ask to be listened to. Held by the Tide, the debut full-length from Swiss artist Gravitide, is one of them. Released February 11th, 2026, and born from the picturesque landscapes of the Lavaux wine region, it’s a record characterized by flexibility.
Gravitide’s touchstones are on display. The sparse tenderness of Bon Iver, the orchestral emotional architecture of Sufjan Stevens, and the confessional directness of Alex Warren all exist in the project’s essence, but nevertheless it creates its own contemplative space rather than simply borrowing from its influences. This is music made by someone genuinely curious about their own inner world, and that curiosity is contagious.
What makes the record particularly noteworthy are its origins. Gravitide collaborated closely with Suno, an AI creative partner, to translate thoughts and reflections into sound, which by no means feels clinical.
Standout tracks Lingering Light and When My Heart Knew represent the album’s best moments, capturing moments of warmth and wonder. Throughout, the vocals express vulnerability that anchors the album’s deeper atmospheric tendencies, ensuring Held by the Tide never drifts too far into abstraction. Brilliant, in my opinion.
With Held by the Tide, Gravitide truly delivers. Check it out below!
