Cunliffe’s debut single I Like You is a delightful indie/folk/pop gem that steals the show immediately with its warm, intimate sound. The track features the alluring vocals of Amy Hardcastle, the artist at the forefront of the project, accompanied by rich acoustic guitar, a grooving bassline, gentle piano notes, and tasteful percussion.
The lyrics beautifully communicate the longing to be around someone you like, savoring every fleeting moment spent together. They’ve become the center of your universe. It’s impossible for you to find someone like them.
The song’s origins are spontaneous. During an unrelated studio session around four years ago, producer and musician Richard Smithson showed Amy a catchy guitar riff. In a flash of inspiration, the chorus lyrics came to them almost instantaneously. From there, additional guitar parts were composed as Amy continued to make poignant verses and melodies.
