Singer-songwriter Imani-J releases her new single, In The Dark. The story behind it is pretty relatable – she wrote it after drifting apart from someone who meant a lot to her. This is of course a bummer. You can’t help but replay things in your head, trying to figure out what the heck happened. And while that’s happening, you’re stumbling around in the dark, looking for something – anything – to take your mind off the pain. But no matter what you do, that person is still on your mind. The song captures those confusing, melancholy feelings very well.
In The Dark has compelling guitar lines that cut through the darkness. The vocals are convincing, and the whole production just glows with energy thanks to their fire. During the chorus, there’s an opportunity for introspection, so you should take advantage of that moment.
