On January 24th, Alyza dropped her newest single, I Wish You Had a Girlfriend. The song talks about removing yourself from situations where your crush sends mixed signals. You know how it works, one minute they’re flirting up a storm, the next they’re acting like you’re just friends. Confusing, huh? It really messes with your self-esteem when you can’t figure out if they’re actually into you or not.
The music is inspired by pioneering acts such as Destiny’s Child, Brandy and Monica, particularly the latter two’s song The Boy is Mine. You can totally hear those 90s R&B vibes coming through. It’s like taking a nostalgic trip back to that era.
Alyza has earned the right to call herself the queen of R&B once again. She makes fantastic music. Check out I Wish You Had a Girlfriend below!
