Celina Savage, who is 19-years-old, already been writing songs and playing guitar for years, but ‘Baby Names feels different. It talks about growing old and simultaneously closer with someone. An idealized future image I’ve held since I was young,” Savage explains. “I’ve had a dream baby name for as long as I can remember. This song was written when I met someone of that same name and couldn’t help but imagine what my future could have in store for me.” It’s the kind of cosmic coincidence that makes you wonder if the universe is messing with you or actually paying attention.
In a music landscape where everyone’s too aware of how things can go wrong, Savage gives herself permission to believe they might go right. And that kind of earnest optimism? At 19, when your imagined future suddenly has a face and a name? That takes guts.
