Luxembourg-raised, Portugal-born experimental pop producer and vocalist ÆM has made a hyperpop banger, titled Written In The Stars, about queer identity. The rhythms are ecstatic, the lyricism is bittersweet, and the whole thing radiates the energy of someone who has decided, firmly and loudly, that they’re done shrinking.
The world might be getting increasingly hostile but ÆM’s response is essentially;: okay, and? Written In The Stars takes the pain of repression and spins it into something completely unignorable. It’s radical optimism with a four-on-the-floor kick drum.
