Coming off the back of her acclaimed 2023 debut Keep It Alive and the indie-radio favourite Love As Much As Fast As You Can, Marie Fjeldsted is clearly stepping into a more expansive artistic space with Like I Was Never Mine. The new chapter she’s opening is one that’s earned.
Like I Was Never Mine explores how boundaries and cores slowly erode over time. The song blurs the line between the human and the natural in a subtle yet powerful commentary on our time, expressing the voice of a woman in crisis or Mother Earth herself.
The production supports the thematic richness beautifully. Nothing here announces itself too blatantly. The arrangement feels like natural growth rather than construction, which, given the song’s ecological undertone, seems entirely intentional.
