That’s what Monkey, the New York-born, London-and-Stockholm-raised artist behind Monkeys with Internet, is exploring on her debut single Hunger. It talks about the exhaustion of looking outward for something that was always going to have to come from within, and the moment you finally recognise what you’ve been doing.
Produced by Swedish Grammy-nominated Joakim Buddee, the track comes with a polish that makes the vulnerability in the lyric land even harder. I love the vocals because of their radiance.
Hunger is part of Monkey’s wildly ambitious 100 songs in 100 weeks project. On the strength of this one, you’ll want to be paying attention.
