Montreal singer-songwriter Libby Ember releases her new single, News at the Party. Inspired by a real experience, the track depicts the pain she felt when someone she cared about had moved on and she had to keep performing that evening.
“For the rest of the night, I just had to pretend to be okay with that and act like I never cared in the first place,” Ember explains. “But the second I was alone that night, all I could do was start crying.”
The sad lyrics get masked by the upbeat instrumental, which feels true to the experience of being sad in a party environment. The vocals are wonderful, guiding you through the delicate soundscape.
