BAY is a band from Amsterdam (the Netherlands) comprising three solo artists: Bobbie Wall, aniika, and Yentl. Their new single, Lucy, places a strong emphasis on thoughtful lyricism. It follows Lucy through two parallel storylines: in one, she misses her train and catches someone’s eye; in the other, her life unfolds differently. Neither version is better, but both are real.
I love the arrangement here, supported by guitars, banjos, and mandolins. The vocals sit right on top with a distinctively folk-inspired feel, giving the track plenty of flair. The chorus is my favorite part, thanks to the vibe it creates.
