Rising star Agnes Aleesy releases La Columna, a song inspired by Frida Kahlo’s painting The Broken Column. It goes from the wish to change reality towards the difficult but necessary process of making peace with it. For Aleesy, this meant recognizing that her resistance to acceptance was standing in the way of what she needed most.
La Columna sounds iconic. It starts off with acoustic guitar, strings, and layered vocals before gradually building into a piano-led breakdown with alt-R&B drums and bass. I love how the arrangement develops throughout.
La Columna brings out the very best in Aleesy, and I’m completely sold on this track. Check it out below!
