JACKLYN is a singer and songwriter based in London. Her first single Same Thing was released in 2018 and was produced by friend and long-time collaborator Jonah Stevens.
Summertime is JACKLYN’s new single and it is a grandiose piece of music. I adore the groovy melodies which showcase multiple amazing artistic insights. Besides, JACKLYN’s vocal performance is sublime, she has such a powerful voice. Furthermore, I also really like the construction of the chorus and the dynamic elements!
Speaking about Summertime, JACKYLN says: ‘I wrote Summertime on a sunny May bank holiday, after feeling the urge to write a song about what I was going through with a guy, who was ‘only lonely when the sun shines’. The writing process was really quick, all in all about 20 minutes, and I played it to my family in the garden then and there to hear their thoughts. Afterwards, in the studio with my friend and producer Jonah Stevens, I wanted to see if we could incorporate the original mobile phone recording that my uncle had taken in the garden. We figured out a structure for the song whilst keeping as close to the original vibe as possible. I’m so excited that I can share this bittersweet track with the world, a melancholic reflection on ‘summertime’ romance, but with love and warmth at the end where you can hear my family praising the song! It kind of gives me a feeling of no matter what you go through family will always be there to nurture and support you.’
