IMOGEN has since amassed over two million streams across Spotify and Apple alone, as well as numerous editorial playlist spots (New Music Friday UK, Sad Songs, Life Sucks, Easy, Apple Best Of The Week etc). Debut track White Lines was premiered by Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1, with additional support across 6Music, Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing in Newcastle and London, as well as festival slots at Live at Leeds, Hit The North, Latitude and more.

I Wish I Were You is IMOGEN’s new single and it sounds very impressive. I really like the powerful vocals. Besides, the melodies are captivating. Furthermore, I am also a big fan of the dynamic elements and unique textures!

Speaking on the track, Imogen explains: ”The concept of ‘I Wish I Were You’ came from some personal experiences with infirmity. I wanted to capture, both sonically and lyrically, the sensation of being unable to be free in your own body coupled with the overwhelming desire to be, or to be someone else entirely.

The lyrics change from ‘I wish I were you’ to ‘I wish I were with you’ as a comment on the duality of jealousy and attraction when seeing someone else move so freely and effortlessly when you’re unable to. The desire to experience something as intimate as showering with them, but also be in the shower as them. Consuming and inhabiting. But, of course, another’s perceived freedom can be so deceiving – not everyone is truly happy within themselves. I guess overall the track is a lament of this viciously human cycle.”

I Wish I Were You is a track that needs a lot of attention. Be sure to stream it as soon as possible!
