Burnout doesn’t always look like falling apart. Sometimes it looks like keeping everything running perfectly until you can’t remember why you started. Kathy Katouzi hit that wall after six months of two jobs, school, constant production and barely any sleep. v@nish* was written as a result.
The song talks about the urge to disappear when everything becomes too much, not from people, but from the career, the industry, the relentless pressure of it all. ”Maybe you can help me’ vanish’ isn’t a plea to a person. It’s a plea to the whole machine.
I love the production here, in which Y2K maximalism prevails, making it loud, chaotic, and overwhelming. The vocals sound wonderful and are well placed in the mix.
Katouzi impresses to the fullest extent with v@nish*. Check it out below!
