Canadian singer-songwriter Rachel Rhea has a powerfully contemplative side. And this is clearly present on My Angel, the third track on her debut EP The Way Back Home. It deals mainly with the fear of being forgotten when you leave this earth. But Rachel also talks about the human need to be loved, not just during peak moments, but also when things aren’t going so well.
She shares: “My Angel is inspired by a poem I wrote on a ferry ride home while watching strangers and reflecting on mortality, connection and what remains of us in the end.”
I think the production here sounds awesome. The bassline, for example, reveals itself very sneaky and builds a good pace underneath. I can’t help but rave about the melodic progression either.
Rhea just knows how to leave an impression. I mean, My Angel sways with real soul. Check it out below!
