Katie Reid is a Scottish-Australian singer-songwriter. She’s releasing her new single, July. And I truly love this record. It radiates raw honesty, with Katie reflecting in a deeply personal way on the shame and guilt she carried after being betrayed by an ex-partner. While writing it, she tried to step into their mindset and understand how someone could hurt another person in that way. For a time, the experience left her feeling damaged and uncertain about love and trust.
The production of this song feels wavy, with unique alt-pop textures paving the way. Beautiful vocals are centered around it, allowing the narrative to be etched deep into your mind.
