Do you admire Rock? Punk? Always on the lookout for new music? Then you’ve come to the right place.

Today, we’re going to discuss The Exquisite Dream, the recently released debut project by Victoria, BC-based alternative band Door d’Or. It features 10 tracks that are full of tension and don’t give you a moment to think about anything else. This is music made with passion, and you can feel it.

From the very first tune, Fibre Optics, you’re swept along. The way the guitar kicks in and then rolls on together with the drums is brilliant. But throughout the project, you’ll find even many more iconic moments, notably on What You Want, which features some killer breaks. Mouseland also sticks in my head. It’s maybe a bit more soft, but still powerful in how it delivers everything. But of course, tunes like Shelter and Phenomenology are just as amazing. Nothing here sounds the same, so in terms of variety, it’s put together very well.

The album explores themes such as illusion, transformation, and the possibility of a more conscious future, acknowledging the heaviness of the present while striving for something lighter and more hopeful. Lyrically, things are certainly thoughtful and far, believe me, FAR, from simple. It’s precisely that complexity that works, because it shadows what you already know.

Let’s not make a secret of the fact that Door d’OR has created something really cool. The Exquisite Dream is, yes, a dream project. One that needs to be listened to, and often. So help with the mission and start listening to it right down below. A good decision, if you ask me.
