London-based French artist and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB and Brisbane-based alt-pop artist ALBI. recently joined forces for their first collaboration, The Machine. The song comes from their shared frustration with the music industry and the reality of trying to build an independent career. Written from the perspective of two women trying to make a living from music, the lyrics address the unfair side of the industry, but also recognise the friendships, connections, and opportunities that make it worth continuing.
The Machine has an infectious alt-pop sound that gives it a powerful presence. The singing is on another level, particularly during the verses. The chorus works because of its clever structure.
The prospect of YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB and ALBI teaming up was exciting enough. Hearing The Machine makes it even better. Check it out below!
