London-based art-pop artist Dayla shares her new single, No1. Written in LA and completed after the end of a six-year relationship, the song captures the excitement of an unexpected winter spark alongside the disappointment that comes when the imagined romance doesn’t match reality. The lyrics aren’t just good, they’re also very relatable.
Regarding the track, Dayla says: ”No1 represents my anti-hero self—the not-so-put-together side of me. I wrote a “love song” that truly talks about limerence; how despite thinking I am more experienced in love as I get older, my brain still feeds into the “what ifs” with promising encounters leading to nowhere. Though, in this song, I wanted to keep it open by surrendering the outcome to the unknown: “Let’s forget expectations and see what will happen – maybe there’s a me and you”.
Sonically, Dayla draws inspiration from female peers, blending the ethereal, dreamy tones of Shygirl’s Heaven, the addictive rhythms of Pink Pantheress, and the heavenly, layered harmonies that define Addison Rae’s signature style. Throughout, everything sounds fantastic.
Dayla has proven that she’s one of the best artists out there at the moment with No1. Check out below!
