Rising star Eiza Murphy wrote Movies while living in London during the last UK lockdown. The track captures the feeling of wanting to escape.. If you’ve ever imagined what your life would look like on screen, this is the song for you.
I love the production here. Incredibly rich vocals are layered over an instrumental arrangement that has a certain charm, giving the song a hypnotic aura. As the chorus approaches, the sound becomes astounding and even more surprising.
When asked about the track, she says: “Movies is a song I wrote about daydreaming and escaping reality for a minute in your mind. I thought ‘what would it look or feel like if my life was scripted in a film?’. After the year we’ve just had, I think everyone is craving a little predictability.”
