Maria Ellis is an up-and-coming pop/r&b singer, songwriter, and producer from New York. She recently dropped her new hit, Counterfeit. It talks about a love that feels finally real. With lines like “You’re not just a souvenir/ If I like my place, then i’ll leave it here/ Your love feels like pure gold / No you, you aren’t counterfeit / No you, you are so genuine to me”, Ellis articulates her feelings.
Counterfeit has brilliant production. The beat hooks you straight away, and the string accompaniment paired with the guitar melodies elevates the track even further. The vocals carry real power, demanding your focus.
Ellis continues to grow artistically. Counterfeit is her best song so far, in my opinion. Check it out below!
