Lefuturewave is a music blog based in the Netherlands. We feature emerging as well as established artists.
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, oktehya grew up surrounded by music. Her father is a local legend funk drummer, and she has made a fiercely independent music career for herself as well. She recently shared her five-track EP a changeable feast, featuring the focus track complicated. The project reflects on personal growth and understanding yourself through relationships, exploring how the way we connect with, attract, attach to, and treat others can shape who we are.
complicated focuses on the tension of being attracted to someone you know you shouldn’t be. The idea of an unspoken secret between two people gives the song a compelling emotional edge, especially with the push and pull at the center of the story.
The song’s production mixes bubbly and industrial elements together in a wonderful way. The vocals of okethya are absolutely pure, with every line sounding flawless.
